Fiedlers Pay It Forward
Paige '87 and Charlie '86 Fiedler are thankful for the time they spent at Simpson College.
They're thankful they bumped into each other in Kresge Hall during their first year on campus. They're thankful for the skills they developed and the lessons they learned that allowed them to build successful careers. And they're thankful for the generosity of others who made it all possible.
"We are inextricably tied to Simpson College," they say. "It not only set the stage for our careers, but also started us on a journey of critical thinking and lifelong learning. Perhaps most important are the friendships we have maintained over the years."
Coming from small-town Iowa—Paige from Eldora and Charlie from Atlantic—a college education wasn't easily within reach for their families. They relied on scholarships to turn their dreams into reality.
Now, Paige and Charlie give back to the school that gave them so much. An endowed scholarship in their names will provide opportunities for generations of Simpson students to come.
"The decision to do something was easy," they say. "Neither of our families could have afforded to send us to Simpson without the generosity and commitment of others who came before us. Given the College's importance in our lives, it seemed like a no-brainer to pay it forward."
Endowed scholarships can be established with a gift of $25,000 or more from cash or stock (outright or over five years), or through your estate plan. Endowed scholarships can be named for the donor(s) or a loved one with only a percentage dispersed each year for the scholarship, making it possible to assist students for generations to come.
You can join the Fiedlers by establishing a legacy at Simpson. To learn how contact Chris Goodale '86 at chris.goodale@simpson.edu or 515-770-1426.
